The 2015–16 Big Bash League season or BBL|05 is the fifth season of the Big Bash League (BBL), the premier Twenty20 cricket competition in Australia. The tournament is running from 17 December 2015 to 24 January 2016. The format of the tournament is identical to previous seasons. Each team will play 8 group stage matches, four at home and four away, before the top 4 ranked teams progress to the Semi Finals. The Final of the tournament will be played at the home ground of the highest-ranked team.
The Perth Scorchers are the reigning champions and will be seeking a third successive BBL title.
